Sister Cannariato's Latest Letter

Hola, Greetings from snowy Stow! It's been snowing basically since the 1st and I can't wait for the next 4-5 months of it :) Luckily it was only really windy one day so tracting hasn't been too shabby. A couple things for this week. Thank you for the emails this week! I loved hearing from each of you and hope things continue to go well. So from Dad's email he said Monica and Nate are coming this weekend--does that mean you're staying all the way through Christmas or are you doing Christmas early? Just curious. Monday was my two-month mark and Sister Corbridge didn't let me forget! She's so great. She gave me a bunch of quotes about Kirtland and the prophecies that it would be built up again. I'm so grateful I can assist in that work. Sister Corbridge also let me know that as of Monday, I've completed 1/9 of my mission and that January 3rd will be 1/6. It was CRAZY to think of it like that. While I was in the MTC a speaker informed us that in the Lord

How Much is that Doggie in the Window?

Image
Here's my most recent design for makeup. I'm supposed to be a hound dog--my mouth is the nose. The next picture is of this nasty moldy bread that I found when I was doing white glove. My roommates and I cleaned all Thursday and Friday. We're pretty clean, but it took FOREVER! Then Friday night we had a surprise party for Kim (that's the picture of Anne and I eating red holiday oreos!). So, now our apartment looks like we never cleaned it. But I'm having fun and staying warm even though it snowed today! I love you all and I hope you're having as much fun as I am!

Remember?

Here's how far we've come from last year! Enjoy: Under-Cover Christmas To Whom It May Concern: The information we are about to disclose is top-secret, confidential, and classified. It is only through means of your fierce friendship and utmost trust that we feel the need to share with you this covert communication. The year 2006 was of one of perpetrating undercover operations, staying one step ahead of the enemy, and narrowly escaping deadly situations. The veteran of the agency, Grandma Fern, loves to share her thrilling stories and tactics with the progressing generation, as well as keep in touch with her fellow agents. Steve continues to run the smooth operation with his commanding voice and ominous presence. Throughout the year he spent time honing his skills in the catching of dangerous fresh-water enemies, codename: FISH, and driving the getaway boat for his expert apprentice water-skiers. A li'l something to get you in the holiday mood..

Okay, so here's the story behind this. We were reading scriptures, in Corinthians, about resurrection and being called back to the Lord or something....It mentioned something about the trumpets of God welcoming you back to heaven, and mom broke out into the trumpet fanfare from some Handel's Messiah piece. Becca, Lexi, and I did not (obviously) get the reference, but later on Dad broke out into some awesome Handel bass, and then...Voila! Mom came in with the trumpet fanfare, which was part of the song! We tried to get her to do it again on video, but she said she "does not perform on command." (next time we'll carry around a camera all the time just in case!) but anyways, here's what scripture reading is like at our house...enjoy! Love, Eliza
I can't wait to see you guys this thanksgiving! And then we go to Festival of the Trees! This is going to be a stressful holiday, i can already tell. SO EVERYONE GET IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT!

What I would look like if I ever could grow a beard...

Gma Betty and the Birthday Extravaganza

We had Grandma Betty's birthday here tonight, and I just thought I'd give you all a little taste of how the evening went. Here is one interesting conversation of note: Grandma: "Giraffes make rotten mothers" *pause as we all examined the philosophical meaning of this remark* Dad: "Well have you ever tried to raise a teenage giraffe?" Becca: "I have" Anyways, that about sums the evening up. There were lots of great presents (you guessed it-most of them bought by the birthday girl herself) and a FABULOUS chocolate cake (made by yours truly!--hence the FABULOUSness of it!) and just an overall great night of fun and games. Hope you are all having as much fun as we are!---Lizzy

Magical Music

Image
Even here at school in Rexburg, we're getting ready for Christmas by listening to... CHRISTMAS MUSIC!

Kind of REALLY freaky!

Image
We're learning how to do beards in my makeup class. Mine turned out kind of creepy and matted so I added a black eye and a nose bleed and wa-la! I call it The Beat Up Hobo. By the way, my model was a girl and she was very patient with me. Don't worry, I won't be doing that to any of you because the hair itself is pretty expensive...and it's A LOT of work. I get my beard done Tuesday, but hopefully I'll get it off before devotional!

Grandma's In!

Thanksgiving Wish

On Tuesday, we had a really great devotional titled "Don't Be in a Hurry." Many of the points really impressed me and I wanted to share that with you. I hope that all of you read it because it's really good! http://www.byui.edu/Presentations/Transcripts/Devotionals/2007_11_06_Thomas.htm One part was something that really stood out to me and I think as a family we could all do together for Thanksgiving! "Some years ago, President Hinckley offered a special Christmas gift to every member of the Church. This gift, he promised, would help us understand the “true essence of Christmas,” and feel the peace of Christ, the love of Christ, and “an overwhelming sense of gratitude” to Him. So what was the Prophet’s Christmas gift? It was one hour—sixty minutes “spent in silent meditation and quiet reflection on the wonder and the majesty of this, the Son of God” (Ensign, December 2000, 5). Do you remember getting that gift? Would you prize it? Do you understand the directio

Something's fishy...or hairy...

Image
Ok, I promise I'm not taking steroids...we're just learning about applying facial hair in my stage makeup class. Do I look good or what?

I did it! I did it!

I just want all of you to know that tonight I ran for a half and hour! That's 30 minutes and that's a first for me...ever! The hardest part, and my favorite part surprisingly, was the jog up toward the temple. Not very many people can go jogging next to a temple!

OH EM GEEEEEEE

A Delayed Hello from Ohio

Greetings one and everyone! I'm so so so SO sorry that it's taken me so long to email. I'm glad that you got my letter in the mail...I'm sorry I wasn't able to email--we held transfers that day and didn't get a chance to make it to the library for the internet. I arrived at the SLC airport and was able to call many of you but wasn't able to catch everyone. Our flight was on a little Canadair jet for Skywest and we flew straight to Cleveland. Well, straight's a relative word, because it was so turbulent-y that I ended up puking. Yep, that's right. Good thing I'd stuck an entire change of clothing in my carry on so I could change my shirt before I met President Peterson. Ugh, I'm embarrassed to tell the story but man, it was so funny. I felt very humbled when I met President, because I had all these plans of looking and presenting myself as my best self but my stomach and Heavenly Father had other ideas. We had a great dinner at the Mission hom

Happy Halloween - Pre-school style!

Image
Yes - it was fabulous! We all love pre-school. Blake and I loved the time together and Ethan had a great first day! The Preschool teacher is Mrs. Neal and she is SO sweet! We started with a great breakfast (Mom-I want hot chocolate and candy, No, You can have bannanas and cold cereal), then in our Thomas the train costume. At school we did many fun things, including Halloween Bingo and made spider cookies.
