It's Birthday Time Again!

Image
It's New Year's Eve, and we're preparing for the New Year's Day Run tomorrow morning. What were we thinking? It's probably going to snow 6 inches tonight. Tomorrow is Steve's 55th Birthday. It's fun to have the college girls home for his birthday. We've made the famous Red Velvet Cake again. It's one of the family's favorites. The recipe has been made in the family for many years for all the birthdays and holidays.

Caped Crusaders!

Mom was super proud of her capes for the boys! This will be a great Christmas for everyone! Mom is so good at everything---especially making capes! Thanks to April Hamilton, who gave mommy the idea!

By Popular Demand - My List

I really don't need anything, but since several of you have asked for some direction, here are some ideas - *a blue dress shirt to wear when I teach, 16"neck-35"sleeve is the size. *an inexpensive Timex digital watch for running, etc. *a pair of dark green socks *Metro Express car wash gift card *Cabela's gift card *A good book on CD *Peace on Earth, good will toward men. Happy Christmas!

My Christmas Wishes

Okay, I'll post a few ideas for all you Christmas shoppers out there. New car floor mats (I know, pretty romantic) rubber or leopard print (not the cheap ones) UGG boots (the real ones, not the fak-o ones) interesting dayplanner (Must be month at a time, NOT daily or stupid) Quality Art to take a painting class personal plane (not a dinky little prop that you have to turn by hand, you know, or I'll just return it and get what I want)(must be in the correct color) cute but grown-up blingy purse (NOT A SOUP SPOON) torch for all the creme brulee I'm going to be making when I'm not dieting cute exercise outfit that matches and makes me look super fit. well, that's pretty depressing.

A Few of My Favorite Things

Image
Christmas is full of so many, many traditions for us. I love the first snow, which was yesterday! I love the twinkly lights and red velvet bows and sparkle all around the house. Here are just a few of my favorite things this time of year. I want you all to know how much I love all of you and treasure all the special memories we make and remake each year. I also hope each of us can remember the reason for the season as we are busily running around and shopping and baking and partying. It's all very good, and let's find joy in every day and every little wonderful experience of life.

Trip to Washington D.C.!

Image
I just got back from a super fun trip to Washinton D.C. with my Newspaper for a national convention. I had a blast and got to go to some great museums--some smithsonians and the newseum. I even got to see some places that Dan Brown wrote about!

Random Interview

As I was walking home from school one day, this guy stopped me and ask if he could take my picture and ask me a question for i-Comm, a student media lab project. Here's the link to the little clip of me answering the question "What's the most challenging part of Interior Design?" http://byuicomm.net/ It's on the right side of the web page when you put your mouse over it. Kind of a cool, random moment here at BYU-Idaho!

Dad and I had a little fun this weekend!

Image
Steve and I were empty-nesters this weekend. So on a freezing Saturday afternoon, we went to Black's Creek Rifle Range and took our guns. My dad's old 1917 Winchester high-powered rifle, and our two shotguns, and we had a BLAST. Wow, those guns were LOUD! That was the first time my old guns had been used in about 50 years or more. Dad would have been proud.

The Most Dangerous Recipe Ever....

Hey all, my friend and I made this cake recipe the other day...and let me tell you it's delectable! But like I said, it's the most dangerous recipe ever--because now we are only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake any time we want it! I recommend chocolate syrup or ice cream with it, because it is pretty dry (or dense). Also, cutting it in two would be awesome because it gets quite large! Here it is!!!!! 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE 4 tablespoons flour 4 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons cocoa 1 egg 3 tablespoons milk 3 tablespoons oil 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract 1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe) Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a l

Sun Valley, Scone Night, and Aliens

Image
Some of my friends in the interior design program outside this gorgeous church in Sun Valley. It was nice to get out of Rexburg, even if it was just for one day. These are my lovely roommates. Whitney and I are in the back, and then from left to right it's Sarah, Jenny, Steph, and Cherika. They're tons of fun and, as you can see, very good looking! One night when we were going a little crazy from homework, some of my roommates and I decided to go for a little adventure. And we found some friends along the way... This is my unique creation for our Scone Night. We invited a bunch of people over but sadly (ya right) only boys showed up. It was fun meeting new people and eating!

A Great General Conference Weekend!
