Rebecca's Christmas List

My Christmas list has been hard to conjure, mainly because I'm getting everything I could ever want this year. 1. Basically anything you think a newly wed wife will like. This can include decorations, kitchenware, etc. Really, this is an easy one. I will appreciate any gifts that will help me start my future home. (PS we are leaning toward earth tone colors for our house).  2. Wonder Woman Apron 3. Socks  (or any cool crazy long socks) 4. Knits for Nerds 5. Books. I'm really into the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin.

A mid-sized purse like  this . The complete set of Harry Potter movies. These  shoes  from J. Crew.  A calendar for work (less than 18" when open so it can fit above my desk). One of  these  looped patterned scarves from American Eagle. Or  this one  from Ruche. An iPhone. A cashmere sweater. Earrings.  An iTunes gift card or one to the mall. I'm just going to say it. A drum set.

It's that time of year...

Attention, attention members of the Cannariato-Almond crew!  It's that time of year to start thinking about Christmas lists.  That's right, I said it.  Christmas lists. Now I don't want to rain on Thanksgiving's parade (literally or figuratively), but I do want you to start thinking about what to put on your wish list because the day after Thanksgiving, everyone is going to post their Christmas lists on this blog.  Boys and girls, husbands and wives, grandkids and grandparents, post your Christmas lists on this blog so Santa (and others) will know what you're wanting for Christmas. Thanks for you're cooperation and Christmas spirit!  Santa will be watching for your post THIS FRIDAY. Happy Turkey Day!

Snowy Utah Trip

Image
Dad, Alexis and I had a short trip to snowy Utah for Abby's baptism and Caleb's blessing.  It was fun to have all the grandkids together.

Welcome Sweet New Baby Caleb

Image
We finally have our new baby boy, Caleb, who joined us here on earth on Tuesday, October 23rd.  He and mommy are doing very well and getting bits of sleep here and there.  He is, of course, the most handsome baby ever born.  He was 21 inches long and weighted 6 lbs. 15 oz. born at 7:35 pm.

Disneyland Adventures

Image
Disneyland for 3 days! Wow, that was so much fun for everyone.  The weather was perfect and the parks weren't too crowded.  Everyone was healthy and we had a wonderful time together.  Grandma and Grandpa were just thrilled to be included in California fun.  Thanks, guys!

Aspen Grove - Having been to Heaven, now what?

Image
Having our Cannariato-Almond Reunion at Aspen Grove was, in my view, 3 of the best days of my life. Everyone seemed happy to be together at this beautiful mountain retreat! How can you beat activities for EVERYONE, young and old alike? How could it get any better than being being with my family in an idyllic, serene mountain setting? What could be more fun than helping your grandchildren catch fish? And three meals a day requiring no cooking or clean up on our part! The "Natives" were never restless! And it sure seemed to me that we had a bunch of "Happy Campers." How wonderful to belong to such a great family!

Shootin' guns

I shot some guns today in Ethan's backyard, and surprisingly enough I actually hit some targets!

Pioneer Trek 2012

Image
Steve and I just completed our third Pioneer Trek.  We were the camp cooks and had a fabulous time.  It is so much work, but such a tremendous experience being with the kids and the other wonderful adults who volunteer their time and very hard work to push handcarts up and down rocky ridges and sleep on the ground under the stars and get super dirty.  We loved it all!  This experience provides the kids with some very hard physical challenges as well as some uplifting opportunities for spiritual growth.  The boys watch the girls struggle with all their might during one phase of pushing handcarts, and then they are finally allowed to help the girls, and the girls called them "angels".  They bonded as families during the three days and some learned new skills, such as washing dishes and going potty outdoors. The kids cooked their own scones in Dutch ovens and helped with kitchen duties.  We felt privileged to be a part of this great memory making experience.

Alexis' Award Winning Blueberry Masterpiece

Image
Alexis spent the morning (after exercising at the Y, of course) making a blueberry pie.  She spent two hours making the dough and lattice top and blueberry filling.  We had to wait all day until after dinner to enjoy it, but I must say it is the BEST blueberry pie I have ever had!
