So for dinner on Sunday, I invited my FHE brothers over. Ya, we're a pretty good looking family. Good thing we're not really related! ;) Starting on the left and going around the table: Natalie, Kim Melissa, Rick, Jenna, Stu, Seth, Devin, Jake, and Dave.
Nothing like a Big Happy Family for Sunday dinner! Just for everyone's information, the first time I had spaghetti without plates (you know how we do it with the clear plastic wrap on the table and no utensils or plates) was with my FHE sisters at BYU. Great traditions often have their beginnings at college. What a fun time of life!
In July of this year we spent 5 days with 47 of our favorite teenagers trekking as pioneers across the plains of Wyoming. It was the culmination of a year of preparation for all of us. This Kauai trip was our reward for surviving that experience. Actually, it was a marvelous and very spiritual, but exhausting experience. Kauai, on the other hand, was supremely relaxing but super fun. Some of my favorite things were the wild chickens roaming the island, the feral cats, the gorgeous sunrises on the beach, making new friends, enjoying the beautiful scenery, and generally just enjoying spending time with each other.
We had Grandma Betty's birthday here tonight, and I just thought I'd give you all a little taste of how the evening went. Here is one interesting conversation of note: Grandma: "Giraffes make rotten mothers" *pause as we all examined the philosophical meaning of this remark* Dad: "Well have you ever tried to raise a teenage giraffe?" Becca: "I have" Anyways, that about sums the evening up. There were lots of great presents (you guessed it-most of them bought by the birthday girl herself) and a FABULOUS chocolate cake (made by yours truly!--hence the FABULOUSness of it!) and just an overall great night of fun and games. Hope you are all having as much fun as we are!---Lizzy
